IHBC’s 2013 School update: Day School and non-residential places still open, & sponsor opportunities, but Residential School & joint NHTG Heritage Skills Fair closed!

The IHBC’s Annual School is now widely regarded as the crucial moment in the calendar of any serious conservation specialist, especially as bursaries mean that it’s more accessible than ever, but current popularity means that the 2013 Residential School and the joint IHBC-NHTG Skills Fair on the Saturday are now closed to new delegates.

IHBC director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘It’s been very busy with bookings coming in and our team of volunteers and staff making the final arrangements. And now as Historic Scotland’s digitisation skills are featuring high in our Spotlight sessions, we’ve a whole new dimension on the challenge of skills’.

Karen Houghton, NHTG Chief Executive, said: ‘We’re delighted that the partnership with IHBC on the Carlisle Heritage Skills Fair on 22 June has offered IHBC’s School delegates a taste of what the NHTG and its partners work so hard to deliver: the traditional craft skills we need to keep our built heritage up to scratch, and generate the jobs that go with that!’

‘Our partnership with the IHBC and the Heritage Skills Initiative, as organisers of the Skills Fair, shows just how well we can all work together to deliver a better profile for heritage, as well as a wider understanding of how skills can make a huge difference to everyone.’
