The ‘Progress report’ of the National Heritage Protection Plan (NHPP) has been released by English Heritage.
Edward Impey of English Heritage writes:
I am very pleased to announce that the National Heritage Protection Plan (NHPP) annual Progress Report for 2012-2013 is now available to download. It is divided into two sections: an Overview Report of progress and a more detailed Activity Programme Report, providing information about individual projects undertaken by English Heritage.
The National Heritage Protection Plan is now two years old so we are at the mid-point of the first Plan period. The Plan has developed considerably over the past year and has been structurally transformed, moving it emphatically away from being an English Heritage owned plan. Now, while English Heritage continues to provide coordination support, it is a Plan owned by a widening partnership of sector stakeholders.
The core of this transformation is an overarching Plan Framework which sets out the philosophy behind the Plan and summarises the sector’s strategic priorities for action. This framework forms the basis for the development of an increasing number of separate Action Plans, each owned by individual groups or organisations who have identified what they can do to address the priorities. English Heritage and the Church of England (CCB) have already completed Action Plans, and many more, large and small, are now in planning or in draft. These will be essential if we are to make the most of diminishing resources and focus on the real priorities for action.
Many thanks to all of you who contributed to the annual NHPP winter 2012-13 consultation survey. The consultation results and English Heritage’s response are also now available and show that we remain on the right track.
If you or your organisation wishes to develop its own Action Plan, or if you wish to know more about the NHPP generally, please do contact us at: nhpp@english.heritage.org.uk
