Canal and River Trust challenges students to design a collection box

The Canal and River Trust has challenged product design students from Central St Martins university in London to create a collection box ‘fit for the 21st century’ for the charity.

A panel including a judge from the Institute of Fundraising, representatives from the Trust and from Central St Martins, will select three designs to be developed into prototypes that will be used in the Trust’s museums and attractions over the summer. ??The design that raises the most money will then be bought by the charity and rolled out to fundraisers across the country. ??Simon Salem, marketing director at the charity said: ‘As a new charity, we want something that will make more of an impression than the ubiquitous bucket; something that will tell our story and inspire people to stop, think and decide they want to support their local waterway.’

Students are able to design either a counter top box or a portable tin.
