‘Heritage Initiatives’, an early member of the IHBC’s leading conservation services business register ‘HESPR’, has helped conservation regeneration projects in Brixton and Peckham secure £3.75m from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) towards Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) projects.
Heritage Initiatives, working closely with local communities, stakeholder groups and the local Council’s of Lambeth and Southwark respectively over the past two years, has prepared two successful Round 1 THI applications. Together these have secured £100,000 of development funding and in-principle grant funding support of £3.65m towards high quality regeneration of historic buildings, public realm improvements and complementary community activities in historic town centres.
Nathan Blanchard, Director of Heritage Initiatives, said, ‘Securing this level of grant assistance will provide new impetus for proposals to secure conservation-led improvements to locally distinctive urban centres.’
‘This success also creates confidence and pride in the areas, and helps support community aspirations for positive change in their historic environments. Our track record of 100% successful THI submissions remains intact, building on almost 14 years in preparing THI submissions across the UK.’
