CITB-ConstructionSkills has published its plans for meeting the construction industry’s training and skills needs for the next 3 years.

The organisation’s ‘2013- 2015 Business Plan’ has been designed to build competitive advantage for the construction industry and the people who work in it. It is focussed on ensuring:
1. The industry has the skills to meet its client needs and future challenges.
2. Individuals have the skills to compete for the best jobs and develop successful careers.
3. UK Plc has a construction industry that is world class, can compete with the best on the world stage and make a full contribution to economic growth.
Developed in conjunction with the industry, the Business Plan takes on board Government policy and detailed analysis of the workforce challenges that the sector is grappling with in one of its deepest recessions since the War.
The organisation’s priorities for the next three years are to:
· Lead on the UK construction industry’s education, skills and training needs by working in partnership with industry and Government at local and national level; influencing skills and training policy, funding and delivery; and developing standards and qualifications.
· Support skills and training in construction by ensuring that Levy funds are invested in the Grant system and activities which make the most difference to construction employers, including promoting Construction and Built Environment careers to keep the talent pipeline flowing and delivering a range of business support services that enable construction businesses to grow.
· Providing a wide range of high quality construction skills and training solutions including apprenticeships, direct training, testing, assessment, certification and awards.

The Business Plan focuses on the priorities identified through research, our expertise and industry experience and is informed by the Government’s current and emerging policy. It sets out a challenging programme of activity that has the flexibility to respond to changing needs and demands.’
‘And we haven’t lost sight of the imperative of providing great value for the Levy by working efficiently and effectively so developments in the way we run our business, and improve our services to customers and stakeholders, have also been set out in the plan.’
