IHBC’s new ‘Jobs etc’ alerts: Testimonies to success

The IHBC’s developed jobs service, which now includes an email alert notice to members, has proved such a success that the IHBC’s ‘Jobs etc’ website now carries enthusiastic testimonials from users and clients.

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘Our new service means that job offers and other professional work and skills opportunities can be presented direct to our members through our email and social networking services. Not only do we draw in the right people through our web service, but we circulate them directly across our email and social networks, giving everyone the opportunity to consider new openings and to pass them easily on to others that they think might suit the post or role. Better still, IHBC’s recognised practices and businesses in our HESPR scheme get one free job post a year, which more than pays for their membership!’

‘This is a simple integrated package of service geared to reaching across our membership and into our networks. It gives users at both ends of the process – from those offering great opportunities to those seeking jobs – a great way to make sure the right person gets to the right place in conservation’.

‘As interest in the service has expanded, we now also advertise more than just opportunities for paid work. Charities and others in our sector increasingly take account of resources. The need for better value for money means we need higher standards in matching people with roles, from jobs to trusteeships and volunteers, so using this service helps make sure everyone is doing the right thing!’

Notes of thanks the friendly and efficient service include those from Donald Insall Associates, who reported that ‘Our advertising on ‘jobs etc’ in 2012 was very pleasing. It generated a strong field of relevant candidates, and as such, we were able to fill our immediate vacancies as well as start a dialogue with others who could be suitable for opportunities longer term. Highly recommended.’

Manchester Historic Buildings Trust said they had ‘50 enquiries and 11 applicants – most of them highly qualified, which was why we targeted IHBC’.

At the University of Cambridge, The Institute of Continuing Education said: ‘Thanks for all your help with this – we are very pleased with the outcome!”
