IHBC seeks past documents & records for archiving

The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) is collecting documents, records and other information dating from its earliest days, as the Association of Conservation Officers (ACO), to the present, and seeks relevant records and documents of activities relating to its work and evolution.

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘With some three decades of life and evolution behind us, we’re more than ready to start gathering together the records of our activities and achievements. This is no easy task, as we have always been so totally reliant on the goodwill of volunteers from across the UK, but it is time that we prevail once more upon that goodwill, and gather in the records of our history.’

‘So if you have any groups of documents that you think are important to our history – whether primary records from the national committees or Branches, or papers from our earliest activities that you think may be rare – please do get in touch with the national office and make arrangements for evaluation and sorting, as well as, where appropriate, collection and removal.’

For suggestions and offers of papers, please contact, in the first instance, Lydia Porter, our administrator, at admin@ihbc.org.uk
