CCT Review 2011–12

The Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) has circulated an update on its recent work.

Crispin Truman, CCT Chief Executive, writes:
I am delighted to send you a link to our review of progress at CCT over the past year . You will find a full copy of our review on the website as well as additional case study information and longer versions of some of the stories featured in the review.

Despite a tough funding environment, the Trust has made great strides in the care of our unique collection and the standard of welcome for visitors. We’ve continued to deliver a range of exciting projects including 65 major repairs to churches and 4,357 community and arts events. At the same time we’ve reorganised our small regional teams to provide better support to volunteers and further improve the visitor experience.

This year we tell the story of our work through the voices of the people involved in caring for and making excellent use of our wonderful churches. We are grateful to all our Visitors, Donors, Conservation Experts, Volunteers and Fundraisers who help us in so many different ways.

We rely increasingly on donations to carry out vital repairs and support local communities in their work with our churches. As a result we have redoubled fundraising efforts this year, with projects such as a national fundraising events programme including our Midsummer Tea Party and sports and arts months in CCT churches. Many of our volunteers and donors have been inspired to get involved: in the review you will meet Freya who braved the heights of the tower at St Leonard’s, Bridgnorth to abseil down it in aid of CCT.

We are sending the review out electronically to as many contacts as possible in order to reduce our costs but if you would particularly like to receive a hard copy of the review please do get in touch and we would be happy to send one to you.

The review gives just a small taste of the activity taking place in our 342 historic churches. My colleagues and I would be only too pleased to hear from you and our contact details are in the Review.
