#IHBCNewcastle2026 School Bursary Awards close early as cases are ‘persuasively argued and well-structured’, and with hopes for allocation uplift for 2027

The IHBC has closed its UK-wide bursary call for our 2026 Annual School – #IHBCNewcastle2026 – with ‘submissions… persuasively argued and well-structured’ securing all allocated funds earlier than anticipated, though Branch bursaries may still be available.

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘The IHBC continues to target its support for those most in need, most likely to benefit the sector, and most ready to make the effort to apply.  Given the demand, we’d hope to expand our bursary programme for 2027, subject to resources.  And if you would like to help the sector, the easiest way is to donate to 0ur CREATIVE Conservation Fund.

Bob Kindred MBE IHBC’s lead on our School Bursary management, said: ‘The Institute is pleased to have been able to award bursaries to attend this year’s Annual School in Newcastle in June. The submissions were persuasively argued and well-structured, with four given for the Full School and one for in-person attendance at the Day School.’

‘Bursaries aim particularly to encourage IHBC members who have not attended an Annual School before; and the Institute hopes that for those granted places, there will be much to be gained professionally; through networking and making valuable contacts while also enjoy their time in Newcastle.’

‘The application process for the current year is now closed, but bursary applicants for next year’s School are advised to make their applications early so as avoid potential disappointment.’
