Wycombe District Council is involved in a dispute over proposals for the designation of a Neighbourhood Forum and Neighbourhood Area in part of High Wycombe.
The planning authority is in disagreement with a community group – the Daws Hill Residents Association (DHRA) – which wants to be designated as a Forum. The dispute centres on where the boundaries of the Neighbourhood Area will be drawn and whether these will include key development areas.
DHRA’s original application included sites at RAF Daws Hill and Wycombe Sports Centre and Wycombe Abbey School which are scheduled for major development.
Officers, though, recommended that these sites should be excluded and the Forum’s area focused on the existing, principally residential, areas along Daws Hill Lane and adjacent streets, including Fair Ridge, Spinney, Fair View and School Close.
DHRA agreed to scale back its aspirations but still wants the RAF Daws Hill site to be included in the Area.
Developer Taylor Wimpey owns the RAF Daws Hills site and plans to build around 500 homes there.
DHRA has taken legal advice and Councillor Hugh McCarthy, cabinet member for planning and sustainability, said the district council was also taking legal advice.
The councillor said: ‘Following the receipt of that advice the confirmation of the neighbourhood forum and area would be delegated to the head of planning and sustainability in consultation with the council leader and me.’
