Context, the membership journal of The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC), the professional body for the UK’s building conservation specialists, has posted its issue on ‘Defence heritage’ online.
Online publication of the Institute’s membership journal takes place six months after distribution to members. The entire issue is then made fully accessible online, in line with the IHBC’s charitable objects of supporting conservation of the UK’s built heritage.
Issue no 122, published in November 2011, themed around the heritage of defence, includes articles that range from Chris Daniell looking at the historic estate of the Ministry of Defence and Rob Harper on Gosport’s military legacy to Jeremy Lake, and others, exploring Wiltshire’s military heritage.
Alongside regular reports from IHBC officers and volunteers, the issue also has a number of conference reports including one on the IHBC’s North West Branch 2011 Day Conference, ‘Historic buildings, local action’, linked to the IHBC’s annual peripatetic council visit to Manchester.
