Looking back to IHBC’s Council on ‘Heritage Skills in Conservation’, and ahead to our new ‘response-led’ DRAFT Minutes, for review and feedback

IHBC’s Council, our inclusive member-only advisory and training body, held its most recent meeting online on 8 October to engage with and update members while also exploring ‘Heritage Skills in Conservation’, and now with new-format response-led First Draft minutes available for review and feedback to us at IHBCCouncil@ihbc.org.uk.

Reflecting Council’s role as the inclusive, representative body for all IHBC member categories, IHBC President Rebecca Thompson said: ‘We had a very strong attendance for the IHBC Council Meeting, and a great agenda with many positive issues to share with members.’

‘We shared the great news that Privy Council Office have given approval for submission of Petition for Charter – #IHBCpetitionforcharter – following review of the Memorandum submitted in May. This recognised the uniqueness of our discipline and the value that we bring to the sector.’

‘We also shared the review of the Corporate Plan to 2025 and scoping for the future plan 2025-2030 and we welcome feedback on this item.’

‘The Council CPD Session on Heritage Skills in Conservation was well presented and represented by our diverse leads, so our thanks go to all of our speakers who contributed.  Our focus was on heritage skills will be further enhanced through the parliamentary briefing on 18 November.’

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘While our digital platform was less interactive than usual, members were still very engaged and involved.  So I’m delighted to say that, at Rebbeca’s suggestion, we’re returning to a more responsive reporting format and process to make sure our conversations go on from and beyond the Council meeting itself.

‘This new process starts with early and more summary minutes for review, in a format that allows for feedback by members and updates to be included by us in advance of the next meeting.  So for now, any input or queries can be based on to the IHBC’s National Office by emailing us at IHBCCouncil@ihbc.org.uk.
