18 heritage winners of Catalyst endowments announced

18 heritage organisations have secured a total of £27.5m of the £55m Catalyst Endowment Fund, a joint initiative between the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Arts Council England (ACE) and the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Designed to bring new money into the cultural sector, the programme offers match-funding to help arts and heritage organisations secure their financial stability by building a new endowment fund or developing an existing one.

The 18 successful heritage organisations will use the grants of between £500,000 and £5m to attract a further £53.5m from private philanthropic sources, on a sliding ratio of 1:1 to 3:1.

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt and the Chair of the Catalyst judging panel Michael Portillo announced the full list of Catalyst Endowment awards recipients at a ceremony held at the Victoria and Albert Museum on 20 June.
