… as the Chancellor says: ‘Thanks, but no thanks’…

Following the open letter to the Chancellor co-signed by bodies leading opposition ot the ‘heritage VAT raid’, including the IHBC, George Osborne has rejected calls for its reconsideration, while partners encourage signatories to maintain pressure on MPs and in media.

In a related development, the Public Bill Committee debate on the VAT provisions in the Finance Bill provides more background.

Both the Chancellor’s response and the Public Bill Committee debate report continued support for the current planned ‘heritage VAT raid’, while the Committee discussion notes that there will be ‘an opportunity to take part in that debate on VAT changes in the next few weeks’.
