Adapting to the Impacts of Climate Change… survey by the ESPON GILL project. We want to learn from you! Submit your local greening plan

The ESPON GILL project collects examples of planning documents by local authorities relevant to Green Infrastructures (GI)… so submit your local greening plan as an exemplary case for local authorities.

EPSON writes:

Delivering qualitative green spaces is important for local biodiversity, it improves cities and towns’ attractiveness and makes residents more healthy and feeling better. The European Green Deal and the Nature Restoration Regulation foresee an important role for local authorities to conserve, protect and strengthen green infrastructure, urban green spaces and urban nature, but concrete tools to support local authorities are lacking. To support local authorities in delivering urban green infrastructure, ESPON has commissioned a targeted analysis project (ESPON GILL) to develop a methodology for quantifying the demand for green infrastructure at the local level (more here).

As we want to build on good practices by local authorities and promote learning from colleagues, we invite all local authorities to submit their relevant green infrastructure plans (including urban nature plans, urban forestry plans, green structure plans etc.), which will be included in a repository of good examples, serving as inspiration and guidance for other cities and towns. It allows local authorities to showcase and disseminate their work and innovative approaches. Also, plans that are no longer up to date are welcome (e.g. a green structure plan for 2005-2015), provided they still offer innovative approaches or insights.

Politicians, civil servants and consultants can submit innovative plans via a short and easy survey, available at the EUSurvey – Survey. Before uploading to the repository, the project team will do a quick review of the submissions for relevance and innovation.
