SAVE Britain’s Heritage – SAVE – is 50 this year, and asking for donors to be part of its anniversary year for which there is ongoing appeal with a target of £100,000.
Henrietta Billings, Director, SAVE Britain’s Heritage, writes:
As part of the appeal, we’re asking you to consider joining us as a Friend or a Saviour this year. To do so, please follow this link. Alternatively we’d be delighted if you would make a one off donation towards our work.
Your money will go directly to the front-line of campaigning, including:
- Our Fighting Fund – a ring fenced fund unique in the heritage sector that allows us to respond fast to places under threat by pulling together architects and engineers for alternative visions, seeking legal advice where necessary;
- Our Internship Fund – our highly coveted paid training and work programme, now in its 5th year, which helps talented people launch their careers in our sector. Eve, our current intern said: ‘The internship at SAVE is extraordinary – I’d say there’s a lot of learning on the job, so you’re given very exciting work straight off the bat… I’ve learnt a huge amount in a very short space of time!’; and
- Our anniversary events programme which will continue for the entire year, and which we would like you to be a part of.
Our 50th anniversary is well underway with a host of activities to mark this achievement. This year we have already:
- Developed a comprehensive regional events programme in Glasgow, Sheffield, Norwich, Plymouth and London designed to promote our work and re-connect with local groups and campaigners around the UK;
- Opened up our Buildings at Risk register to universal access – making it free to everyone for the first time;
- Created our first ever SAVE short film – highlighting the importance of our work and the impact of key ‘Big Saves’.
- Launched our new Act Now! Toolkit – our guide to navigating the planning system and protecting buildings near you; and
- Launched our new website – making it easier to find our campaigns and latest news and events.
We’ve had some terrific coverage about our work in the national press. I hope you enjoy reading this piece in the Guardian by architecture critic Oliver Wainwright.
Your support is hugely important to us. I’m hoping you will consider investing in SAVE’s future through our 50th anniversary appeal.
If you have any questions about our events or the fundraising appeal and ways to give, please do not hesitate to be in touch.
Thank you for supporting SAVE.
