Skills Minister John Hayes has announced funds over £2.4m from the Growth Innovation Fund (GIF) to the nuclear and creative and cultural sectors.
The cultural heritage sector is to benefit from a new investment announced by Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, to extend the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural to benefit the cultural heritage sector.
The National Skills Academy for Creative and Cultural Skills will receive around £1.5 million. This will enable it to expand and open up opportunities for more than 1,200 new apprenticeships and craft training for young people across the jewellery, design and cultural heritage sectors.
Led by Creative & Cultural Skills and a broad range of partners including the Museums Association, ICON, Tate, V&A, Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund, the new development programme will enhance and develop career opportunities for talented young people within museums and galleries, built heritage, archaeology, heritage craft and conservation, and provide the sector with the skills needed to prosper in the current economic climate.
