In this May issue of the CPD Circular, we are pleased to highlight several upcoming events taking place across the UK in the coming months.
Starting us off, on 1 May, the North Branch will host their in-person event, ‘Power to All People: The Listed Byker Estate in 2025’, in Newcastle. Meanwhile, the Annual School Pre-conference webinar series continues with Carole Ryan, who will be sharing her experience of ‘The changing face of Context in rural areas in the last fifty years’.
Looking further ahead, we will be hosting a further two webinars as part of the series, with Dr Andy Wigley providing an introduction to ‘Shrewsbury’s Built Heritage’ on the 15 May, followed by a detailed look at the topic of ‘Adaptive Release in the Historic Environment’ on the 22 May led by Dr Caitlin DeSilvey and Imogen Wood.
These online webinars set the scene for this year’s Annual School, taking place in the historic town of Shrewsbury between 12 and 14 June, which will explore the rich topic of ‘Heritage in Context: Value > Plan > Change’.
This year, tours include Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, Shrewsbury Abbey and Churches, Shrewsbury’s wall paintings and a visit to Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale; however, tour numbers are strictly limited so early booking is advised.
In person full school, day school and virtual delegate options are available, starting from just £35 +VAT, and you can find full details, including a list of tours, venues and the full programme for Friday’s Day School online at shrewsbury2025.ihbc.org.uk.
Later in the month, there will be free, online Supporter Surgery for those who are looking at advancing from Supporter status to Affiliate membership, on 19 June, followed by an in-person event hosted by the Scotland Branch who will be looking at ‘Finding the Balance: Built Heritage & Landscape Conservation in Development Planning’ on 20 May.
