IHBC features ‘Heritage from the Global doorstep’: The Boring Building Index

Humanise is asking for help to shine a light on the way so many places have become characterless and inhuman… smothered by deadening buildings, and seeks a collection of boring buildings from all over the world, defined by contributors.

Humanise writes:

Take a picture of the buildings that depress you. The ones you have to walk past every day. Built by people who didn’t really care enough or didn’t understand the impact that buildings have on all our lives.

So whether it’s too flat.
Too plain.
Too straight.
Too shiny.
Too anonymous.
Too monotonous.
Or too serious.

After six months, all these pictures will be analysed by an independent team at a top university. We will publish the results on this website. And then host conversations with the developers, designers, politicians and planners who can help to re-humanise our towns and cities. Upload your picture via the Contribute button on this page.
