IHBC features ‘Heritage from the doorstep’: Former St Joseph’s Orphanage site had ‘community protection notice’ served on it

The Grade 11 listed former St Joseph’s Orphanage Mount Street, Preston, which had a community protection notice served on it, was vandalised and sustained a recent arson attack reports Blog Preston.

Blog Preston writes:

The owner of the former St Joseph’s Orphanage is not due to face any enforcement notices despite a third major fire in the space of two years…

Asked if the city council was considering further enforcement action… a spokesperson said they did not plan to at this time…

… Part of the former orphanage was demolished in recent years after proposals for a new apartment complex, which keeps the grade-II listed tower, chapel and other elements. However, progress on this scheme has stalled… amid calls and rumours it is due to be demolished.
