Plans to demolish newbuild houses with foundation issues at the Darwin Green development have officially been submitted. The developer, Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, has asked for permission from Cambridge City Council to demolish 83 units at the development on the edge of the city.
Back in June this year it was revealed that there were problems with the foundations of a number of newly built homes in the second phase of the Darwin Green development, referred to as BDW2. The developer said at the time that a ‘small number’ of houses had foundation issues and said they had apologised to customers impacted.
At the time it was reported that 36 unoccupied newbuild homes were impacted by the foundation issues, but the planning documents submitted to the city council states there are 83 units that need to be demolished due to the foundations. The documents explain that the impacted properties are a mix of slab and footings only, partially built structures, and full structures.
