A new report from SAVE Britain’s Heritage argues that while tall buildings can make ‘exciting contributions to city life’, if designed or sited poorly, they can do ‘longstanding harm to our cities’.
The director of the charity Henrietta Billings said that planners often discount ‘mid-rise, high-density new buildings’ and instead Manchester has a ‘plethora of tall buildings competing for prominence.’
In their latest report, titled Boom not Bust: How Greater Manchester can Build the Future Without Destroying its Past, the charity warns that the ‘lack of oversight… poses a major threat..’
