Training manuals designed to equip construction SMEs with the knowledge and skills they need to unlock the commercial opportunities around the Green Deal have been launched by CITB-ConstructionSkills and are available for download at no charge.
The publishers write:
A series of manuals have been developed as an additional resource for organisations including schools, colleges, training providers, trade organisations, manufacturers, installation contractors and individuals who may be interested in a career in, or change of career to the insulation sector.
The manuals can be used for information, learning and development purposes so anyone can access and use some or all of the manuals and the information contained within them. They also support specialist technical information and training resources available through manufacturers, trade associations and training providers.
The Manuals are free to download and cover the following insulation areas:
TRM152/1: Loft Insulation
TRM152/2: Cavity Wall Insulation
TRM152/3: Draught Proofing
TRM152/4: External Wall Insulation
TRM152/5: Internal Wall Insulation
TRM152/6: Roofing Insulation
Each manual provides an overview of:
• The Green Deal
• Health and safety legislation relevant to the job
• Health and safety risks, assessment, responsibilities and management
• Personal Equipment used to protect individuals
• Tools, equipment and materials used on the job
• Good customer and installer care and communication
• Examples of approaches to preparation, installation and completion of the job
