Bude’s iconic Compass Point cliffside storm tower in Cornwall is to be moved brick by brick further inland before it is destroyed by climate change and rising sea levels, reports Cornwall Live.

… Bude’s Compass Point storm tower will be demolished and rebuilt 100 metres (330ft) inland so it is protected from further coastal erosion brought on by climate change and more frequent and destructive storms.
It’s the second time that the 190-year-old tower has to be moved due to climate change and coastal erosion. It had to be moved before, in 1881, and will now be moved again in April this year – just 142 years later.
Bude-Stratton Town Council was awarded a Heritage Fund Lottery grant of £249,362 to save the Grade-II listed building. This has been a culmination of a year’s worth of fundraising and work, with the community raising just over £60,000 in just seven weeks through a Crowdfunder campaign.
