IHBC’s Linkedin group approaches 1000

IHBC members and others are encouraged to join the IHBC’s Linkedin group as it now approaches 1000 members, while a special welcome will be offered to our 1000th member – subject to their agreement!

The Group is ‘owned’ by the IHBC’s past-chair Dave Chetwyn, and was started in August 2010.  You do not need to be a member of the IHBC to join the Group as it is treated as a very open forum for discussion, but IHBC membership is encouraged, and IHBC members must observe the IHBC’s Code of Conduct in their contributions.

The IHBC’s Linkedin Group is promoted by the IHBC as an open forum to guide professional interest in the sector, so any comments by Group members should not be interpreted as IHBC policy.

Site statistics seem to broadly reflect the IHBC’s own professional membership with some 60% in Architecture, Planning and Construction.  The range of functions – with 55% at senior, manager or director level – may reflect the IHBC’s professional membership rather than its entire current membership of 2200.

Recent discussions on the site included:

·   historic buildings seismic assessment

·   foam insulation to slate roofs

·   the CLG Committee Report on the NPPF

·   a request for members near Dudley to help on a voluntary basis with a very large heritage community project

·   ‘Stone V Mortar
