IHBC’s journal: complete Context online

The IHBC has announced that its celebrated house journal, Context, is now available to read online in its entirety, in a move that will enhance further the IHBC’s support for professionals, researchers and the wider sector.

Charles Strang, IHBC’s Communications Secretary, said: ‘Putting entire issues of Context online is an important step forward for the IHBC, as we deliver on our commitment to sustainability and to improved services.’

In the current issue of Context, themed around ‘Healthy environments’, John Fidler, USA-based IHBC member and internationally renowned conservation specialist, writes: ‘Congratulations again on yet another well-produced interesting issue… Nothing in the USA comes close to your production values, and the content is always thought provoking and newsworthy’.

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly responds: ‘Our staff, volunteers and consultants value hugely such endorsements, and now that Context is going fully online, everyone can enjoy enriching their skills through our work.’

‘Enhancing online services lies at the heart of our charitable activities as it makes our work more accessible.  Putting complete issues of Context on-line is a major development in the already substantial efforts we make to support research and understanding across the historic and built environment sectors.’

The new service will run alongside improvements to the on-line archive of articles and its associated searchable index.  The IHBC hopes that all historic issues will be available for online reading by the end of 2011, while its article indexing and reference will be even more accessible.
