CIC seeks examples of NOS use

The Construction industry Council has opened an informal call for examples of the use of National Occupational Standards (NOS) by relevant organisations.

CIC writes:

We have recently revamped the CIC standards website (see http://www.cic.org.uk/standards/).  We would like to develop some case studies on the benefits of using national occupational standards (NOS) to employers, individuals education and training providers and awarding organisations

We would love to hear your experiences of how you utilise NOS in your organisation. For instance you might like to consider how NOS have improved the productivity of your business by:

  • Supporting your transition to low carbon practice and operations
  • Assisting senior staff with people management and development
  • Assisting towards gaining Investors in People Status
  • Providing a route to professional body membership
  • Identifying emerging skills needs
  • Creating a competence based job description
  • Increasing confidence in standards of work performance that will be achieved
  • Improving skill levels thereby delivering value for money
  • Assisting with the appropriate allocation of work
  • NVQ Diploma/SVQs provide proof that you are competent in order to gain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
  • Forming part of apprenticeship frameworks

For an informal approach see: LINK
