The IHBC has updated its ToolBox practice Guidance Note on the Retrofitting of Traditional Buildings – first launched at one of the ‘IHBC Spotlight’ sessions at the 2019 Annual School in Nottingham – after author and IHBC Technical Panel Chair John Edwards revised content to reflect feedback and new developments.
… risks of unintended consequences are common…
John Edwards said: ‘Buildings are and will continue to be under pressure to be made more energy efficient and whilst this is sensible, experience to date suggests that risks of unintended consequences are common.’
…comment on competencies and new publications by the British Standards Institution (BSI) on retrofit…
‘This guidance intends to provide an outline on the most appropriate approach, which is a holistic one. It also provides comment on competencies and new publications by the British Standards Institution (BSI) on retrofit.’
… Toolbox offers a wide range of resources, ‘tools’…
IHBC Research consultant and lead in overseeing the delivery of ToolBox notes, Bob Kindred , said: ‘IHBC Guidance Notes are produced as part of an integrated programme of online support for conservation practitioners, our IHBC ‘Toolbox’, being developed to help inform, advise and guide anyone interested in heritage. The Toolbox offers a wide range of resources, ‘tools’, ranging from primary research and guidelines produced on by or on behalf of the IHBC, to technical, academic and practice advice supported or endorsed by the institute. Simply follow the headings or use the search facility to find the tools for your job!’
