A different kind of flavour to government websites has emerged with the launch of Alpha.gov.uk, the ‘experimental prototype’ for a single UK government website, intended to bring together not just all the information now collated in Directgov, but also departmental communications.
Informal in its design and approach, the site was developed fast by a small but highly influential team for the Cabinet Office, as part of UK digital champion Martha Lane Fox’s review of Whitehall websites.
