COTAC – the Council on Training and Education in Conservation – the UK’s conservation skills link body, has issued its second Newsletter, announcing its 60th Anniversary as well as a range of other news – including Lady Tina Feilden as National Patron, Professor Jukka Jokilehto (joint keynote for the IHBC’s 2018 School) as International Patron. As well as celebrating the centenary of the birth of Sir Bernard Feilden, lead author of the 1993 ICOMOS Conservation Guidelines – while anyone interested in receiving free updates in their email can sign up HERE .
Michael Netter, COTAC Secretary and lead on its Newsletter service, said: ‘Each newsletter is designed to contain a promotional item about COTAC, a relevant photo with caption, a snippet from a past COTAC newsletter, and a brief introductory note; the remainder of the content will be providing readers with news regarding heritage and conservation skills and training both domestically and internationally.’
‘Hopefully this will become a key ‘service’ which can be used to help promote COTAC to members, stakeholders and potential funders.’
COTAC writes:
With the coming of January 2019, COTAC enters its 60th anniversary year and, despite a number of challenges yet to be overcome, the Charity has clearly set out its aspirations for the next 5-years. These are revealed in its 2019–2024 Corporate Plan that will soon be made available on the COTAC website: cotac.global. As we progress into the Plan-period we also delighted to announce and welcome Lady Tina Feilden as our National Patron and Professor Jukka Jokilehto as our International Patron. Both have indicated that they are pleased to offer their support to work of COTAC and we look forward to meeting their expectations. As 2019 also commemorates the centenary of the birth of Sir Bernard Feilden, we are especially delighted to have Lady Feilden’s support. As an active COTAC Trustee, Sir Bernard’s work in creating the internationally recognised ICOMOS Education and Training Guidelines is still very much at the heart of COTAC’s current activities and we look forward to honouring his achievements as 2019 progresses.
