Rab Bennetts and Professor Sarah Wigglesworth have been appointed CABE commissioners, while the reappointment of Joyce Bridges will ensure CABE keep its strong links with English Heritage.
In welcoming the announcement by DCMS Minister John Penrose MP, CABE’s chair Paul Finch said: “Sarah and Rab bring the kind of creative flair and technical expertise that will help CABE to champion great architecture and support others in creating great places.”
The four year appointments will run from September 2010.
Rab Bennetts OBE is co-founder of Bennetts Associates Architects , known for its commitment to sustainable design. Recent projects include the redevelopment of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and Edinburgh University’s Informatics and Humanities building. Rab is a founder and on the board of the UK Green Building Council.
Sarah Wigglesworth MBE is a professor at Sheffield University. She is the founder of Sarah Wigglesworth Architects, specialists in low energy and sustainable building, with extensive involvement with schools.
