IHBC Wiki linkIHBC website users can now access a key IHBC service more readily as the IHBC’s Conservation Wiki now has its dedicated icon link from our Home page, offering easy access to Designing Buildings Wiki’s 3 million users a year via the IHBC-hosted public service, Conservation Wiki !

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘The IHBC’s Conservation Wiki is a publicly accessible service offering a unique interface between all aspects of construction, and in particular linking heritage-related queries into the IHBC’s own more substantial operations and advisory resources.’

‘As we also encourage our members to look to the Designing Buildings Wiki resource as a whole to develop their understanding and skills, this new icon link will make it easier for them to access that resource.’

‘And it is about opportunities too, as we also encourage members to populate Conservation Wiki and Designing Buildings Wiki with relevant content, which can only help raise their profile and of the IHBC, and improve standards in heritage care across the entire construction industry’.

IHBC writes:

The IHBC’s Conservation Wiki is part of the Designing Buildings Wiki platform, created to make construction industry knowledge freely available to everyone. Anyone can create articles about subjects they know and find articles about subjects they don’t.

Conservation Wiki is operated by the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.

It provides a platform for sharing knowledge about the conservation of the built and historic environment, from the restoration of cathedrals to the management of conservation areas and retrofitting period, traditional and modern properties to improve their performance.

Where there are articles on Conservation Wiki that are owned and maintained by the IHBC, they are protected from editing and linked to their original source on the IHBC website.

Comments on these articles can be emailed to IHBC’s Support Officer Carla Pianese, at support@ihbc.org.uk.
