Pocahontas statue re-listed to mark 400th anniversary of death

HE websiteThe statue of Pocahontas at the Church of St George in Gravesend has had its listed status updated to commemorate 400 years since her death.

The Grade II life-size bronze statue has also had its entry on the heritage list updated to include a full description of her life and role in English and American history. The statue in Gravesend is a copy of a sculpture in Jamestown. It was given by the governor of Virginia to the British people 50 years ago on the 350th anniversary of her death. It was first listed in 1975.
