Defra handbooks on project grants, focussed on jobs and growth, with heritage opportunities

A number of handbooks have been published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) offering guidance on grant funding for projects in England, and focus on jobs and growth in the rural economy while also offering heritage opportunities.

There are 3 types of grant:

  • Business development
  • Food processing
  • Rural tourism infrastructure

Of particular interest to the heritage sector are the examples given in the rural tourism infrastructure handbook of extending a local museum and capital investment museum and capital investment in visitor attractions which could be heritage based.
