MPs endorse next Chair of Office for Environmental Protection but insist relations with farmers and environmentalists must improve
The EFRA and Environmental Audit committees have endorsed the Government’s chosen candidate to become the next Chair of the Office for Environmental Protection (OEP), Dame Helen Ghosh, with qualifications.

1-Year extension for Countryside Stewardship Scheme, to support farming and nature
DEFRA has confirmed a one-year extension for over 5,000 Countryside Stewardship Mid-Tier agreements, originally scheduled to end in December 2025, so thousands of farmers will receive extensions to continue restoring nature and farming sustainably, supporting long-term food security.

IHBC features ‘Heritage from the (farmers’) doorstep’: Natural England wins right to protect historic sites
The Court of Appeal has granted Natural England a permanent injunction against a tenant farmer to prevent him from ploughing and cultivating land without obtaining the necessary consent, reports Farmers Weekly.
