Historic Scotland’s Bill Team has released its analysis of 2009 consultation on the Historic Environment (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill.
It concludes that: ‘The Consultation on the Bill generated a wide ranging and complex debate about heritage protection legislation in Scotland and the Bill provisions. Although there was broad support for the Bill as drafted a number of respondents made suggestions for minor amendment to some of the provisions and others raised a number of issues that are not addressed in the Bill. The Bill Team has consequently written to many people who responded to the consultation, to seek clarification of or more information on points, or to request evidence of a need for certain provisions. We have also held workshops and meetings with individual bodies to discuss particular issues. The consultation responses and the follow-up work will be used to inform Ministers’ consideration of the final shape of the Bill.’
