Planning Portal reports that Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has dismissed an appeal by the developer The Fairfield Partnership for seventy homes in the vicinity of Wymondham Abbey.
The decision notice states ‘the Secretary of State considers that the scale of the economic and ecological benefits has not been articulated in detail and would only be of limited value. He also agrees that the site is appropriately located in relation to services and facilities but would fail to protect the natural and historic environment and that as such the weight afforded to the provision of sustainable development is limited’ (para 17) and ‘the benefits of the scheme do not outweigh the less than substantial harm it would cause to the setting of the Abbey’ (para 18).
