New building regulation amendments have been introduced in Wales this week, with changes to guidance on sustainable buildings.
The Welsh Government writes:
The Building Regulations have been amended to reflect changes coming into force today following a consultation on Part L, Conservation of Fuel and Power, undertaken in 2012 and decisions taken by Housing and Regeneration Minister, Carl Sargeant in 2013.
Last year the Minister announced that all new domestic buildings would be required to have an 8% reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions and all non-domestic building would require a 20% reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions.
The national planning policy for sustainable building standards has been withdrawn from Planning Policy Wales and the associated Technical Advice Note, TAN22, has been cancelled. In place of this, TAN12, on design, has been amended to include guidance on sustainable buildings.
In addition, practice guidance has been produced to advise local planning authorities and developers on planning for sustainable buildings.
