Laurie Lee’s ‘Slad Valley’: homes plan turned down

An appeal by a developer who wanted to build 112 homes in Slad Valley, Gloucestershire, an area made famous by writer and poet Laurie Lee, has been dismissed by a planning inspector.

But developer Gladman won his appeal for a development of 150 houses on Mankley Field in nearby Leonard Stanley. Both schemes had been refused by Stroud District Council.
