Virtual chapels of Wales- a new online archive

The history and architecture of nonconformist chapels in Wales is being digitally documented by The Royal Commission and Addoldai Cymru, together with a series of associated  events being held to celebrate their history.

The funding for the project includes the following activities:

  • laser scanning
  • gigapixel photography
  • computer visualisation.
  • interpretative analysis
  • GIS mapping
  • working with the community to hold survey training days
  • events and lectures
  • open doors events, and tours of the chapels

RCAHMS Wales writes:
The Royal Commision and Addoldai Cymru (The Welsh Religious Buildings Trust) have recently been granted over £60,000 for the development of a virtual museum recounting the story of over 300 years of Nonconformity in Wales.
