Fenland overhauls its planning service

An overhaul of Fenland District Council’s planning service is under way following a review carried out by a team of specialists drawn from the Planning Advisory Service (PAS) and the Local Government Association (LGA).

Among the initiatives being implemented are clearer leadership, speedier processing of applications, including clearing the current backlog, and better use of technology.

In a separate but related development, a High Court judge has refused an application for a judicial review of the council’s decision to grant planning permission for a Sainsbury’s superstore in Whittlesey.
