The asset transfer unit (a support service for the asset transfer agenda delivered by the Development Trusts Association in association with Community Matters and the Local Government Association and funded by CLG, is running two FREE conferences in November to support its agenda:
Empowerment, Enterprise and Regeneration: Valuing Community Asset Transfer
Asset transfer is based on effective partnerships and mutual respect between local authorities and third sector organisations. As a key element of the Government’s empowerment agenda, asset transfer is about enabling local people to take a lead in improving local neighbourhoods and services.
Advancing Assets and the Community Asset Programme have supported the transfer of property assets to great projects from across the country. Forward thinking local authorities are working with dynamic third sector organisations to make a real difference to services and communities. Through this conference we want to identify how we build these effective relationships and how we demonstrate the value of asset transfer clearly and objectively.

Sheffield – 17th November 2009 at the Cutlers Hall Sheffield
Explore:
what makes a good partnership between a local authority and a third sector organisation;
the best ways to measure and demonstrate the success of community asset transfer

The highly participative conference will be a great opportunity to network, share good practice and learn from each other what has and has not worked. It will bring together a wide range of the key players involved in community asset transfer as well as those who are yet to begin their asset transfer journey, these include:

local authorities (elected members and council officers);
national and regional policy makers.
