The Strategic Planning Policy Statement (SPPS) for Northern Ireland (NI) proposes to consolidate current planning policy statements into one, and has been launched in an interactive consultation format for the first time, with the consultation period ending on 29 April 2014.
The consultation contains statements on the purpose of planning and sustainable development, promoting town centre retailing (questions 25 – 31) as well as questions relating to Supporting Good Design, Positive Place-Making, and Urban and Rural Stewardship (question 8).
Question 12 may be of particular note, referring: to Archaeological Sites and Monuments, World Heritage Sites, Historic Parks, Gardens and Demesnes, Conservation Areas, Areas of Townscape or Village Character, Local Landscape Policy Areas, Listed Buildings, Community Listed Buildings (local listing) and Enabling Development.
