England’s Design Council is seeking Trustees to sit for fixed term appointments of three years, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of six years in unremunerated positions, with an emphasis on fundraising and business development, and with a closing date of midnight on Sunday 20 October 2013.
The Design Council Writes
Under the leadership of the Chair, trustees of the Design Council have an important collective responsibility for the governance of the charity, its assets and resources, and to ensure it is run in accordance with charity law. They are responsible for its vision, mission and management budget, policies, overall strategy and direction.
Important duties include:
· Contributing to the strategic and business oversight of the organisation
· Ensuring that high standards of corporate governance, risk and financial management are being applied and that appropriate procedures are in place
· Monitoring performance, ensuring that the organisation makes the best use of its assets and funds
· Assisting with fundraising and business development as necessary
· Providing sector specific expertise, where trustees’ contacts and knowledge will be invaluable in supporting the organisation’s activities
· Engaging actively with key stakeholders in fields which are relevant to the work of the Design Council
Some trustees may be asked to contribute to various committees, including finance, audit or remuneration committees, or advisory working groups.
