Heritage Skills HUB: 1st birthday Newsletter

This weekend will be the Heritage Skills HUB’s 1st Birthday as a Community Interest Company, as it celebrates with a bumper Newsletter that also highlights IHBC’s Linkedin group success (at 3000+) and IHBC President Trefor Thorpe’s welcoming of the consultation on the Wales Heritage Bill.

Cathie Clarke, CEO at Heritage Skills HUB, writes:
Can you believe it? This weekend it will be the Heritage Skills HUB’s 1st Birthday as a Community Interest Company!! From starting off in January 2009 as a coming-together of like-minded stakeholders in the East Midlands wanting to raise awareness about traditional skills training; we were soon invited to extend our activities into the West Midlands by English Heritage. From humble beginnings we now have thousands of followers and supporters, not just in the Midlands, but throughout the country and across the globe.

So THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us reach this fantastic milestone and anniversary – either through becoming a Member (why not join if you haven’t?) corresponding through social media, taking part in our training courses and events or simply reading our newsletters and passing on the information. But I would personally like to thank all those who have provided so much of their valuable time volunteering for the HUB. You know who you are and we wouldn’t be here without you!

Loads of fascinating articles are packed into this bumper edition and I hope that you enjoy reading it. As usual we have a few selections of events and training courses that are running, but please don’t forget to keep checking our events pages too as we add to it regularly.

We look forward to welcoming you all back after your summer breaks, for what is promising to be a hugely exciting phase in our development. Traditional buildings, materials, skills and retrofit are becoming evermore important subjects for the government, tourism, heritage, community focus and the low carbon economy. There’s never been a better time to make things happen. Communication – Education – Collaboration!
