Welsh government opens voluntary sector consultation

How the Welsh Government and the Third Sector work together in the future is the focus of a new consultation launched by the Communities and Tackling Poverty Minister Huw Lewis.

Earlier this year, the Welsh government announced it was reviewing its funding of the voluntary sector and it now plans to revise its three key policy documents for working with the sector when the consultation has been completed.

Huw Lewis, communities and tackling poverty minister said: ‘This is the beginning of a vital discussion about one of the most important partnerships in Wales – that between the Welsh government and third sector.’ ??He said a review was needed because there had been ‘significant changes’ since the last review five years ago, and the ‘economic situation has become much more challenging’.

Lewis added: ‘The Welsh government will need to make some important decisions about these issues later this year. Before then, I want to hear from a wide range of people and organisations on their thoughts on how we can work together.’
