The Castle Studies Trust is a new UK-based charity aimed at increasing knowledge of castles in the UK and abroad.
The Trust writes:
The trust will award grants of initially up to £5,000 to fund or co-fund, with other organisations, projects. Initial focus will be on funding new pieces of research such as site based investigations as well as projects that increase the public understanding of castle sites.
Grants will complement that of traditional funding sources and focus on sites and projects not funded by organisations such as English Heritage, Cadw and Historic Scotland. The Castle Studies Trust will work closely with the leading castle experts in to make sure that grants are targeted so that the maximum returns are achieved.
The trust is entirely funded by the public and so any donation you are able to make will be invaluable to funding our work…
The Castle Studies Group (a separate society founded in 1987) has donated £2,000 to the Trust, In addition, the trustees of the new Castle Studies Trust have pledged to match donations pound for pound up to the first £5,000, so that any donation received is effectively doubled in value.
