VAG: Winter Bursaries – student & professional

The Vernacular Architecture Group has launched it Winter Meeting Bursary programme, to support attendance at the Group’s Meeting at the University of Leicester on 5-6 January 2013, with a closing date for applications of of 26 November.

Linda Hall, VAG secretary writes:
… The Winter Meeting of the Vernacular Architecture Group… is being held on 5 – 6 January 2013 at the University of Leicester.

We are continuing to run our bursary scheme to enable one student and one professional at the start of their career (regardless of age) to have their conference fee paid. Recipients will have to pay their own travel expenses. The bursaries are available to any registered student or early career professional who might benefit from attending the Winter Conference in Leicester.

The types of applicant that we have in mind are keen students with a special interest in smaller buildings, and professional in the early years of conservation-related careers. The offer of the bursary has a two-fold objective. Primarily it is intended to provide appropriate people with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience of smaller traditional buildings, and to meet others active in the field. However, we also hope that the recipients will be sufficiently inspired by the conference to wish to join the VAG if they are not already members. If you know anyone who might be interested to apply for a bursary I would be very grateful if you could pass on this information to them.

Applications need to be with me by Monday 26 November so that the successful student can be informed in time to send in their application for the conference.
