35 New Training Bursaries awarded by Heritage Crafts

Heritage Crafts has announced the award of 35 new bursaries for trainees from across the UK to learn heritage craft skills, supported by the Capri Holdings Corporate Foundation and others.

Heritage Crafts writes:

These follow 19 bursaries awarded earlier this year. Each one of these bursaries provides up to £4,000 to support heritage crafts trainees whose talent might otherwise be lost to the sector were it not for vital additional hands-on training at the start of their career.

Heritage Crafts Executive Director Daniel Carpenter said: ‘These bursaries take our combined grants, awards and bursaries schemes past £1 million awarded to deserving heritage crafts practitioners and micro-businesses over the lifetime of our charity. That money has transformed the trajectories of over 400 makers. We’re calling on the government to make similar investments at key moments to set makers and businesses on the path to fulfilling and viable careers, adding to the resilience of the UK economy and the richness of our living heritage.’
