A ‘kitschy building’, designed as the Longaberger basket company’s headquarters, has been a roadside attraction in Ohio for almost 30 years, reports The New York Times.
The New York Times writes:
About 40 miles east of Columbus, Ohio, just off State Route 16 in Newark, is one of the state’s most recognizable local landmarks: the Basket Building. Built in 1997… commissioned by David Longaberger to look like one of the company’s signature baskets… exactly like one…
The building has attracted roadside curiosity since it opened…
…I said, ‘That’s not going to happen. It’s got to stay a basket or I won’t sell it.’
